Amy and Liam’s wedding in June was epic, every single detail oozed glamour and it was a total joy to photograph. I arrived with Amy a few hours prior to the ceremony at her family home in Exeter. I was greeted by the most loveliest bunch of people and lots of excited chatter, it was just the loveliest of atmospheres to start the day.
The ceremony was to take place in the beautiful village of Pinhoe, a gorgeous little village nestled in the Countryside, near Exeter, in Devon. The vicar had a few rules when it came to photography, but this didn’t dampen spirits and still allowed me to capture the emotions of the service.
Amy and Liam had chosen Bovey Castle for the rest of their celebrations, where they were greeted with champagne upon arrival. Bovey Castle is beautiful and complimented the elegant style of their wedding day, they couldn’t have picked a nicer reception venue.
Before the guests arrived, we took the opportunity to explore the private estate. As one of Bovey Castle’s recommended suppliers, I was entrusted to drive the golf buggy to get those all important locations to ensure we made the very best of the surroundings for some images of the two of them.
Their wedding breakfast was served in the Great Western Restaurant, and was elegantly decorated with the continuous floral blooms designed by Brompton Buds. Edible Essence had delivered the cake, which complimented the decor perfectly! The room looked absolutely stunning.
After the traditional speeches, Amy and Liam played the game “Mr and Mrs”, I’ve seen this appear several times this year, and it’s guaranteed laughter!
As the sun began to dip behind Bovey Castle, we were treated to the most gorgeous light. We made the most of this on the upper terrace and took the opportunity for some evening pictures!
A sparkler entrance into first dance was something I was unsure about with it being mid Summer, however I needn’t have worried as the results were stunning and gave a whole different feel to the usual sparkler images I would do. I’m so glad they suggested this! Having photographed almost 1000 weddings in my career, it’s great to try new things when it comes to wedding photography.
Amy and Liam had chosen the band Eventine for their first dance, who played an awesome version of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect. Thank you so much for having me you guys, you put so much into planning the most perfect day and I throughly enjoyed every single moment.
