Well, the name is in the title, Great! Christian Michael had the pleasure of working at the Great Barn with a wedding couple in April. The owner, John, has restored this stunning building with love and painstaking attention to detail which has resulted in the Great Barn going right into our top ten wedding venues. The grounds of the Great Barn are stunning with rolling hills, fields and woodland surrounding this massive building situated a short distance away from Exeter. As wedding photographers, it is not often that something visual blows us away but this wedding venue simply does that. When set up by John and his team, the Great Barn itself looks more like an ultra modern and stylish church. The lighting is amazing and makes for some the most enjoyable wedding photography we have undertaken to date. The attention to detail once again shines through, music, lighting, seating and layout are clearly thought about rather than being cobbled together as with many wedding venues in Devon and Cornwall.

After what can only be described as the perfect wedding ceremony we led our couple through to the beautiful country garden a stones throw away from the Great Barn itself. This provides a great location for bride and groom shots as well as getting larger groups together while they relax in the lush surroundings. Once again wedding photography at The Great Barn is no problem at all with old walls, massive Barn doors and green fields to choose as back drops.

Having taken our shots and had a cheeky glass of champers the meal was served. Now it will be no surprise to learn that the food is of the same high and exacting standard as the venue as was the service. The owner and the staff here seem to have a genuine love of what they do and that places them in the big leagues as far as Christian Michael are concerned. We hear lots about customer service, value for money, attention to detail etc at the venues we often visit. To be honest the wedding industry is a cutthroat business and it’s very easy to become disillusioned when attending venues that turn weddings around like a machine. The Great Barn is everything but one of these venues and the pride and enjoyment shown by those involved means all the customer ever needs is there in genuine abundance. Christian Michael don’t photograph weddings because “it’s the bread and butter” as with many photographers, we don’t turn up with a heavy heart and hope it will be over as soon as possible. Like the staff at the Great Barn near Exeter, we do it because we enjoy wedding photography and being wedding photographers, we enjoy sharing a very intimate occasion and we enjoy giving a product that means something. To work with the staff at The Great Barn, who sing very much from the same hymn sheet, was a refreshing pleasure.

So to conclude (as if we need to!). This venue ticks every box there is and a few more you would never think of. We are pleased to quote any booking for wedding photographers at the Great Barn and would HIGHLY recommend it as a venue for any couple thinking of getting married in Devon or the Exeter area or those simply wanting a small corner of the South West to make a dream come true.
