Buon-giorno! Weding Photography in Capri, Italy - 09/10/09
Benvenuto alla nostra posta del blog circa la nostra fotografia italiana di nozze! Which means welcome to our blog post about our italian wedding photography!
Lyana and Joel contacted us earlier in the year to see if we would be interested in photographing their wedding in Capri, Italy, and quite obviously we said yes!
Lyana revealed that she had studied us as part of her photography course at college, which was really nice to hear that a student had found our work inspiring.
Obviously logistically this wedding was going to require a bit more planning than normal. We had to book our flights around weddings we already had booked. The only way we could work around these weddings was to leave the studio at 11:30pm, drive through the night to Gatwick for our flight at 07:00am. Upon landing in Naples, we had to then catch a bus to the port, board a hydrofoil and over to the beautiful island of Capri.
We finally got to our hotel at 2:30pm after 15hrs of travel, we were in need of a beer, however we didn't expect to be charged 8 Euro's each! However a cold beer next to the pool was just what we needed!
We scoped some locations around the island before meeting Lyana and Joel, their family and friends for a traditional Italian meal on the evening of their wedding. It was really lovely to spend some time with everyone involved with the big day in a really relaxed manor around a big table!
We were up early on the morning of the wedding to do a final location scope, which is something we don't usually do, however, the island is really popular with tourists and we needed to find some traditional Italian backdrops, but without hoards of people. The island is truly beautiful and littered with designer shops, and we were both glad our partners weren't with us otherwise we would have come home with very empty pockets!
We both had a great time with Lyana and Joel during their morning preparations. The service was held in the village hall just a short walk from where the couple got ready. The service which was in both Italian and English, was quite different to what we see in the UK, but was still really lovely.
After the service we did some group shots with all the guests, and then spent a bit of time with the couple before heading off for the meal.
After the food, we spent an hour with the Bride and Groom going to the locations we scouted earlier, and got some of the gorgeous shots below.
Lyana and Joel had a boat trip around the island booked where we had the chance to get changed out of our suits as the temperate was well over 30 degrees! This boat trip was hugely fun, and took just over an hour to round the island, and we even managed to get a sunset shot of the bride and groom on the boat despite the large waves that built up!
The following morning we were up at 6am for the long journey home, catching the first hydrofoil back to the mainland. We had Joel's parents, sisters and their partners (Joy, Ted, Keziah, Marie, Leanne, Drew and Alix) as travel companions to the airport.
We all negotiated around Naples and finally boarded a bus to the airport where we parted company as we were on different flights.
We can honestly say what a wonderful group of friends and family the couple have, and the amount of emails we received from them all was quite overwhelming and greatly appreciated, and we look forward to keeping in contact with you all.
