The Carbis Bay Hotel is a super venue and big thanks go to Victoria and her team for looking after proceedings (and me!) so well.It was great to see Anna from Wedding Flowers in Cornwall who did an absolutely super job of the flowers.Despite the appalling weather Ellie and Chris were really keen to get some beach shots, and I was more than happy to oblige, although it did test my cameras weather proof seals!!The evening rounded off with some spectacular fireworks - all I can say is what a great way to start 2012!! Mon, 06 Feb 2012 10:32:25 GMT 2011 - Another Whirlwind Year! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=133 As 2012 starts its really nice for me to be able to take a moment out and look back over a super eventful year here at Christian Michael. The wedding season seems to start earlier and earlier as each year goes by, and come February we were out most weekends shooting tons of images. In fact 2011 was our busiest year to date, and with weddings further afield than ever, our fuel bill was looking more and more expensive! There were some amazing highlights throughout the year, March saw us documenting a wedding in Somerset, where the Groom was an experienced pilot, and flew us down to a beach in South Devon for the Bride and Grooms special photos! April also saw me marry my beautiful, and very understanding wife. Just a day after our wedding I was up to Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, most wives would have murdered their husbands for doing that, so I thank her for her encouragement and endless support.May got off to the most amazing start too, as my wife and I found out we were expecting our second child - some very exciting times ahead! It also saw me and my photographers cover some beautiful Cornish weddings at the Carbis Bay Hotel, Church Cover, Tregenna Castle and Pendennis Castle.June and July were super busy, covering weddings from as far South West as St Ives, to South Wales, Exeter, Gloucestershire, Exeter again, Falmouth, Dartmoor and finally Christchurch.August and September saw a flurry of wedding closer to home, with weddings throughout Devon and Cornwall.October saw me shoot one of my favourite weddings where there were just two people in attendance - the Bride and Groom! It was also at one of my favourite venues, Bovey Castle.November saw us cover a beautiful wedding at the Great Barn in Exeter, and then the following weekend, a good friends wedding in Newquay, and then before you know it, its December and after completing a couple of cold winter weddings 2011 was over as quickly as it began!I aimed to pick out my favourite 5 images from the year, but that was much harder than I expected! So i've picked out my favourite dozen. Here is my year in pictures....... Tue, 10 Jan 2012 12:01:34 GMT Jenny And Ian's Wedding At The Glendorgal Hotel http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=131 I've know Ian for about 3 years having played in a band called The Harry Peanut Show together for a while. It was during this time that I got to know Jenny, and after their engagement last Christmas I was honoured to be asked to document their wedding. Its very flattering, but also a little daunting being asked to document a friends wedding, but very much looked forward to it.Fast forward several months and we found ourselves on a glorious November morning getting ready for their big day. Both Jenny and Ian, and their respective friends and family were such lovely people to be around throughout their day, and it was great for me to meet some old friends from my 'banding' days.It was also really nice to see the band I use to play in with Ian perform in the evening, with him at the Trumpeting helm for a few numbers. Here are a few teasers of their wedding day...... Wed, 14 Dec 2011 16:13:39 GMT Hayley And Tom At The Great Barn http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=130 Early November saw us head to The Great Barn a few miles outside of Exeter. Its a wonderful location that i've had the pleasure of shooting at before, but its always lovely to come back to.We'd been in contact with Hayley and Tom plenty of times prior to their wedding day, and the day was planned to perfection with lots of little highlights throughout the day, from the amazing flowers (Hayley is a florist!) colour coordinated ties/socks/sashes/tables, sparklers and fireworks!!I could write for hours about how beautiful and emotional the day was and mention all of the details but here are some photos to show this instead! Wed, 14 Dec 2011 12:49:29 GMT Andrea And Chris's Wedding At Bovey Castle http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=129 I was truly honoured to be asked to document Andrea and Chris's Wedding at Bovey Castle not just because its such an important day to any couple, but because Andrea and Chris had no guests at all!Despite the weather starting off really lovely it soon deteriorated and made it quite a challenge to get some shots outside. Luckily there were the occasional breaks in the rain, and with an interior as impressive as they come, it wasn't hard to get some amazing shots.Big thanks to Leanne and all the staff at Bovey for looking after me so well again, and also a mention must go to Amy Elizabeth the make up artist for not only doing a truly stunning job of Andrea's make up, but generally for being a lovely person to be around on a wedding morning.Heres a few teasers....... Wed, 14 Dec 2011 00:54:32 GMT Katie And Lawrences Wedding At The Rose-In-Vale http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=128 It was lovely to be heading back to the Rose in Vale for another wedding, this time it was for Katie and Lawrence's big day.It was great to work alongside Ella Butler who did an amazing job of Kaite and her bridesmaids makeup. After the service at the Rose in Vale we headed onto the North Cornwall coast, where it was massively windy, but really dramatic and we got some great shots. Here are a few teasers of their wedding day Mon, 12 Dec 2011 13:35:16 GMT Rosie And Alistairs Wedding At The Alverton Manor http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=127 Awakening to heavy rain outside was not the best start to Rosie and Alistairs wedding day, but as soon as we arrived with the couple, the mood soon lifted. It was great to see a couple who really, really wanted to get married and some heavy showers weren't going to stop that! After a short but beautiful service we do some shots around the church grounds and the weather lifted just long enough to get what we wanted. It was then we headed off to the Alverton Manor just outside of Truro, where again the weather broke perfectly for us to get some lovely shots around the grounds and a few important group shots.A massive thank you to Rosie, Alistair and their families for making us feel so welcome on their wedding day, and also to the Alverton Manor staff for looking after us impeccably. Mon, 12 Dec 2011 12:51:14 GMT Ying And Richards Wedding At Langdon Court http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=126 Ying and Richard got married at the stunning Wembury Church and held their reception at the lovely Langdon Court. The day started off at Langdon with Rachel from Bells Brides doing a perfect job of the bridesmaids hair as well as our Brides; Ying.We all looked out of the window in the morning to some pretty heavy showers and none of us could have predicted that the weather would later be full sun and boiling hot! After a really lovely service (and Yings ring being dropped by the vicar!) we headed down to the near by beach, and after that back to Langdon for the reception. We got some amazing shots in the gardens as you can see from the teasers below.Big thanks to Ying and Richard, as well as all of their friends and family for making the day so perfect and enjoyable for us. The venue is really beautiful and the food and service was excellent.Rosie and Nigel had some really lovely little details throughout their day, one that stuck with me was the flowers. Its quite a drive for us here at Christian Michael (450mile round trip) but its such an amazing venue and always so well planned that its a pleasure to photograph there.Lauren and Neil's day had a super relaxed feel to it, and they had great weather on their side, apart from a short sharp rain shower as we were about to take some photos! Here are a few teasers from their wedding day..... But! I feel I should tell you more about their wonderful day. The couple held their service and reception at the beautiful Fri, 16 Sep 2011 17:18:15 GMT Amanda And Mathews Wedding At Lanhydrock And Trevenna http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=120 We were Trevenna bound again for Amanda and Mathews Wedding, and despite rather stormy looking skies the rain managed to hold off almost all day! It was great to catch up with some great friends and super suppliers at the wedding,. We had Victoria Penrose on hair and make up, Cornwall VW Wedding Hire providing transport, and Memories on Film doing an amazing job of filming the proceedings. The service was held at the beautiful St Hydroc's church within the grounds of Lanhydrock house. Despite a very over zealous church warden we did get some beautiful shots. The reception back at Trevenna was truly lovely and the food as good as always, and with a large sweetie table the children (and adults!!) were well catered for.Heres a few previews of Amanda and Mathews big day. Thu, 08 Sep 2011 06:12:52 GMT Lisa And Ian's Wedding At St Michaels Hotel And Spa http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=119 Lisa and Ian's day started around Truro, where our lovely bride got ready for her big day in Mannings Hotel, assisted by her three beautiful bridesmaids and had her hair and make up done by St Michaels Hotel and Spa in Falmouth where the couple held the service and reception. The weather for a third wedding in a row was absolutely glorious with temperatures around 35 degrees. The weather was absolutely glorious with bright bright sunshine, which although challenging for any photographer, makes being outside with pimms on the lawn on the lawn very appealing!! The couple held their reception at the stunning Wed, 24 Aug 2011 17:06:43 GMT Ruth And Chris's Wedding At Woodbury Park http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=117 The second out of three weddings this weekend so us travel east back up the A30, a road I last saw 4 hours ago driving home from a Bridgend Wedding. A few hours later we arrived with Ruth and Chris on the outskirts of Exeter. Its always an honour to be entrusted to document a couples wedding, and in this case this was even more of a compliment as the groom, Chris is an excellent wedding photographer in his own right. No pressure here then! You could not have ask for two nicer people to photograph, and we had a thoroughly lovely day despite being one of the hottest, sunniest days of the year, making lighting difficult and wearing a suit a touch uncomfortable! Here are a few teasers of their wonderful day. Thanks again guys for being so fab. Tue, 23 Aug 2011 21:31:32 GMT Tracy And Bens Wedding In Bridgend Wales http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=116 Bridgend in Wales was the location for Tracy and Ben's Wedding which meant a long drive for us the night before! Waking up in Bridgend the next day we were greeted by dull skies and the threat of rain.Upon meeting with Tracy and Ben we knew that no matter what the weather, today was going to be a great day! Their wedding was a DIY affair, but this was DIY done good! The whole family and part of the bridal party had been involved for hours, days and weeks on getting all the little details just perfect. From flowers, to table decorations and to a 1950's wedding dress sourced from America! The happy couple were really keen to get some great shots around the countryside and in a break from tradition i've shown more of these, rather than the usual getting ready shots etc. Also in a break from the norm theres a little behind the scenes shot of me getting quite wet in a river....... I think the shot was worth it!! Tue, 23 Aug 2011 15:56:56 GMT Jennie And Matt's Wedding At The Atlantic Hotel Newquay http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=115 Wow! Where to start! Jennie and Matt were both absolutely lovely people with three great children that had planned a wonderfully relaxed wedding day. Their wedding and reception was held at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay, which has amazing views right out across Newquay and the headland, so was a perfect backdrop to reflect the relaxed mood of the day.The couple even braved venturing onto Fistral Beach in the hight of summer in their wedding dress and suit, and trust me it was boiling though they had a great reception from the crowds sunbathing, it certainly brightened up their day.Big thanks goes out to Kevin from Fri, 19 Aug 2011 16:58:52 GMT Liz And Tony's Wedding At Tregenna Castle In Cornwall http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=113 Liz and Tony held their wedding at the beautiful St Erth church and then held their reception at Wed, 10 Aug 2011 20:18:32 GMT Tania And Grant's Wedding At Tresanton http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=112 I had the absolute pleasure of documenting Tania and Grants intimate wedding at the Hotel Tresanton on St Mawes Cornwall. I'd met with the happy couple several months ago and knew instantly that we would strike up a good relationship. It was great to see them again on their wedding day, and despite a few last minute nerves, the service start almost dead on time! After the very moving service where they read each other personal vows, we all headed over to where the hotel had set up a drinks reception which would later be home to a luxury BBQ. Tania and Grant and their guests all headed down with me to the beach for some group photos and to get some lovely images of the bride and groom in their beloved Cornwall. Tania and Grant's wedding was the epitome of a relaxed, intimate and personal affair, and it was a honour to be asked to document it. Look forward to seeing you both again when your back in Cornwall. Wed, 10 Aug 2011 16:30:20 GMT Amanda And David's Wedding In Chagford http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=111 Amanda and Davids Wedding was based around the beautiful village of Chagford in Devon. The Bride got ready at the lovely Globe Inn, and the Groom at the Mill End Hotel just a couple of miles away. The service was held at the stunning St Michael's the Archangel Church which although strict on photography, gave us just enough free reign to get some great shots. The couples reception was held in a marquee just a few miles down some of Devons finest rural roads, testing my Sat Nav to the limit! The grounds were absolutely stunning as you can see in some of the teasers below....... Mon, 01 Aug 2011 13:56:55 GMT Laura And Chris's Wedding At St Keverne Church http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=110 Laura and Chris's Wedding started with beautiful sunshine and an early morning trip to the hair salon, Be Gorgeous where Laura and her bridesmaid/sister work. After Laura and her girls had their hair finished, they all headed back to her house to finish off their preparations. Anna from Wedding Flowers in Cornwall delivered some beautiful bouquets and left to dress the marquee. The bride and bridesmaids were all chauffeured to the Church in a stunning Rolls Royce where Chris was waiting for Laura. After a lovely service we all headed off to the couples reception at a marquee nr Porthkerris which had amazing views around Mawnan Smith, Falmouth and St Mawes. We would like to say a massive thank you to all of Laura and Chris's friends and family for making us feel so welcome. Here are a few teasers of their big day......... Thu, 28 Jul 2011 21:09:13 GMT Sarah And Gordons Wedding Weekend At Bradley House http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=109 Bradley House in Wiltshire was the venue for Sarah and Gordon's Wedding Weekend, which started early on Friday morning. The couple had spent months planning and sourcing the best suppliers and accessories, to make their big occasion very special and personal. The couple got married in the stunning Country House on the friday, and although they took a relaxed stance on seeing each other on the morning of the wedding, the dress remained a surprise until Sarah walked up the aisle. After a beautiful service the couple accompanied all of their guests out on to the lawns of Bradley House for Champagne, Gin and Tonics and the most delightful canapés served up by Fosters Events. The couple really wanted every part of the wedding documented, from the preparations of the florist, the chefs, the front of house, the bands and of course themselves. It was great to see the couple had put so much thought into documenting what are often the unsung heroes of a wedding day. The couple and their families sat down to a exquisite looking 5 course meal on the Friday evening and we retired to our hotel room for the night and spent the next 3 hours downloading that days images. The next day (Saturday) we were up early and Bradley House bound again, this time to photograph the couple in their wedding attire within the grounds of Bradley House. It was so lovely to spend a good amount of time with a couple and get some extra special shots. Later on that afternoon more of their friends and family arrived for the afternoon/evening celebrations, this time in an elegantly dressed marque within the grounds. Again Fosters the caterers served up a delicious meal, and just as the sun was starting to set the couple and their guests made their way up to the house for a Humanist Blessing ceremony. This was only the second one that i've had the pleasure to photograph, and I really like how they focus on the couple, how they met, and their future hopes and wishes, it was all a touch moving!! Soon after that finished we all headed over to the Coach House, which had been wrapped with exotic Moroccan drapes and furnishings for the evening party. Despite rolling back into the office at 2am and spending the next 3 hours downloading memory cards, before getting up at 7:30am for another wedding, we adored Sarah and Gordon's weekend, and thank them for making us feel so welcome. Here are just a few of our favourite shots from their wedding weekend. Wed, 27 Jul 2011 20:26:41 GMT Nina And Stephens Wedding At Combe House Devon http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=108 Nina and Stephen played their wedding pretty cool, booking us just 12 weeks before their big day. This laid back attitude continued right throughout their day, and helped produce the wonderful relaxed atmosphere that made this wedding very special. After their ceremony in Exeter, we all headed back to Combe House for the reception. This amazing venue had scores of wonderful location for photography, from the grand frontage, through wide open fields, and some very interesting mud huts, in which the light fell in perfectly as you can see from the photos below. Nina and Stephen couldn't have made us feel more welcome, and every single one of their friends and family were equally lovely. Many thanks for making this a memorable day for us. They had tied the knot in a secretive ceremony just a few weeks before the birth of their daughter, and the 'wedding' we were booked to photograph was a lovely blessing. After this short service we all headed down to the Royal Citadel in Plymouth for their ceremony. This provided a very imposing backdrop to their photos, as well the views right around Plymouth. Here are a few teasers of their wedding. Fri, 08 Jul 2011 16:29:43 GMT Louise And Alex's Wedding At Trevenna http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=106 We travelled up to the very beautiful Trevenna just outside of St Neot in Cornwall for Louise and Alex's wedding. The weather was looking a little mixed, but the light and sky detail were amazing for photography. The couple had put massive amounts of effort in to their day with dozens of little personal touches, and Louise's dress, made by her mum looked great! They also had their dog Roxie with them, who got in on some of the photos too - such a great dog!! Here are a few sneak previews of their wedding day....... Tue, 28 Jun 2011 20:43:32 GMT Alison And Tims Wedding At Church Cove And Pendennis Castle http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=105 Alison and Tim held their wedding at two of our favourite locations; Church Cove, near Gunwalloe and Pendennis Castle in Falmouth. The couple chose these locations because they are so, so close to seaside, and we made the very most of this, by getting some great shots on the near by beaches. They also had a really lovely vintage theme throughout their day, from a classic bus to transport guests, to a beautiful jukebox. Heres a few sneak previews of their wedding. Wed, 22 Jun 2011 15:46:16 GMT Nicole And Dan's Wedding At The Carbis Bay Hotel http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=104 We met up with Nicole and Dan way back in 2010 to have a chat about us photographing their wedding and instantly got along! Nicole is super down to earth and a lovely person and Dan is rivalling me for geekyness!! We do like a bit of Apple products!Fast forward many months to their wedding day, and the weather was looking perfect. Nicole got ready in her home town of Porthleven, and Dan at The Carbis Bay Hotel where they were to be married.Something Blue provided their beautiful cars once again for the transport, and Kevin at Plan 9 /filmed the day in his usual unobtrusive manor. We grabbed some great beach shots, and before we knew it the party was in full swing thanks to Keiko Rise and their great line up of songs. The party got pretty wild later and I stayed on to capture it in full flow!Heres a few teasers....... The wedding day was brighten up further by some stunning bright yellow bridesmaid dresses and beautiful flowers. After a lovely service the bride and groom and all their guests headed up to the Britannia Royal Navy College for their reception. The college provided a stunning backdrop for photos outside, and internally the wedding breakfast was laid out stunningly. A massive thank you to both Natalie and Giles for making us part of their special day. Sun, 12 Jun 2011 21:33:02 GMT Jennie And James's Wedding In Spaxton, Somerset http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=102 Early Saturday morning saw us traveling up the Spaxton just a few miles outside of Bridgwater for Jennie and James's wedding. The service was at the beautiful St Margarets Church, and although the vicar was a little strict on photography we got some beautiful photos. After the service the new Husband and Wife headed off with their guests to the nearby Quantock View in Nether Stowey (great place name!) for their reception. Taking full advantage of the beautiful grounds and a lovely rope swing we got some lovely shots and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Here are a few teasers of their day. Thu, 12 May 2011 14:33:23 GMT Emma And Terry's Wedding At St Mawes Castle http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=101 Mid April saw us travel to the stunning St Mawes Castle for Emma and Terry's wedding. The weather was glorious and we were delighted to see some of our favourite suppliers there too, Suzi Winter doing the makeup, Freya Colette doing the hair, and the guys from Memories on FilmEmma got ready in the centre of St Mawes and traveled the short drive up the hill to the Castle in a stunning classic car. The service was incredibly moving with the couple having written some lovely personal vows.We had some time with the couple to get some shots around the Castle just as an imposing sky closed in which gave some awesome detail. The couple and their friends and family travelled to Mylor for the reception. The room was dressed stunningly with plenty of hearts, from stitched fabric, to wooden shapes and had a Vintage/Country feel to it.The couple had a Bon Jovi tribute act to play their first dance, and for the evening entertainment who were incredible!Heres a few teasers of their big day. Sun, 08 May 2011 19:07:12 GMT Kate And Brians Wedding At Queens College In Taunton http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=100 We'd spoken with Kate back in August and could instantly tell that we were going to get along. She also mentioned that her fiancee Brian was a pilot and would be flying a helicopter to and from the wedding venue, so we were understandably excited that we could get some really interesting shots!Come the wedding day, Brian was unable to fly the helicopter because of the weather, and it was looking in doubt that it would come out at all.Kate got ready with her bridesmaids and flower girls before the short drive to Queens College in Taunton for the service. During the service you could hear the unmistakable sound of a helicopter landing in the field behind the College. One of our photographers Stewart jumped into the helicopter with Lisa from Wedding Filming and flew to a beach in South Devon for some shots.Kate and Brian were super easy to get on with and you couldn't have asked to have been met with a greater reception. Many many thanks to them, and their friends and family for making us feel so welcome. Here's a few teasers of their day.... Sun, 08 May 2011 16:47:29 GMT Rebecca And Davids Wedding At Gwithian And Scorrier House http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=99 Rebecca and Daves wedding was a lovely local one for us at the beautiful Gwithian Parish Church. It was packed to the rafters with their friends and family, yet still had an amazing intimate feel, made even nicer by the very kind vicar who let us take photos from a decent angle despite being a cramped space! After the service we headed off to Godrevy Point for some photos with the Bride and Groom and we were blessed with the weather, staying dry all day despite at times looking like it could have rained. The couples reception was back at Scorrier House which is set in beautiful grounds and housed the party that continued long into the night! Here are a few of our favourite images from Beckie and Dave's day. Sun, 08 May 2011 15:02:40 GMT Melanie And Kiaron's Wedding At Bovey Castle http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=98 The 5th of March saw us travel to Bovey Castle for Melanie and Kiarons wedding. Mel's line of work, co-owning a paparazzi agency based in London meant that there was also a member of her staff working alongside us, hiding in bushes, and generally grabbing 'paparazzi' style images. This photographer, David was a joy to work alongside and we shared stories from chasing celebrities to wedding day dramas! Melanie had the most beautiful wedding dress, and her designer, Andrea was also a guest so we got to tell her directly how lovely it was! We also had a little giggle at Melanie and her Maid of Honour changing from their Christian Louboutin shoes into slipper socks to walk up the gravel path to the church so they weren't ruined before the service! As ever we would like to thank Frederico from Bovey Castle for thinking of us and keeping us in the loop with every little detail that was going on. Here are a few teasers of their wedding day....... Tue, 08 Mar 2011 22:48:17 GMT Sonya And Waynes Wedding At Bovey Castle http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=97 On a crisp November morning we made our last trip to Bovey Castle for 2010 and to photograph Sonya and Wayne's wedding. We hadn't met the couple until today, so we were delighted to find out that they were really relaxed and just wanted to have a good day, with great people and get some amazing shots. The weather, although cold was perfect for photography and the warm evening light let us capture some great images.Below are a few sneak peaks of their wedding day. Sat, 25 Dec 2010 17:02:49 GMT Buon-giorno! Weding Photography in Capri, Italy http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=39 Benvenuto alla nostra posta del blog circa la nostra fotografia italiana di nozze! Which means welcome to our blog post about our italian wedding photography! Lyana and Joel contacted us earlier in the year to see if we would be interested in photographing their wedding in Capri, Italy, and quite obviously we said yes! Lyana revealed that she had studied us as part of her photography course at college, which was really nice to hear that a student had found our work inspiring. Obviously logistically this wedding was going to require a bit more planning than normal. We had to book our flights around weddings we already had booked. The only way we could work around these weddings was to leave the studio at 11:30pm, drive through the night to Gatwick for our flight at 07:00am. Upon landing in Naples, we had to then catch a bus to the port, board a hydrofoil and over to the beautiful island of Capri. We finally got to our hotel at 2:30pm after 15hrs of travel, we were in need of a beer, however we didn't expect to be charged 8 Euro's each! However a cold beer next to the pool was just what we needed! We scoped some locations around the island before meeting Lyana and Joel, their family and friends for a traditional Italian meal on the evening of their wedding. It was really lovely to spend some time with everyone involved with the big day in a really relaxed manor around a big table! We were up early on the morning of the wedding to do a final location scope, which is something we don't usually do, however, the island is really popular with tourists and we needed to find some traditional Italian backdrops, but without hoards of people. The island is truly beautiful and littered with designer shops, and we were both glad our partners weren't with us otherwise we would have come home with very empty pockets! We both had a great time with Lyana and Joel during their morning preparations. The service was held in the village hall just a short walk from where the couple got ready. The service which was in both Italian and English, was quite different to what we see in the UK, but was still really lovely. After the service we did some group shots with all the guests, and then spent a bit of time with the couple before heading off for the meal. After the food, we spent an hour with the Bride and Groom going to the locations we scouted earlier, and got some of the gorgeous shots below. Lyana and Joel had a boat trip around the island booked where we had the chance to get changed out of our suits as the temperate was well over 30 degrees! This boat trip was hugely fun, and took just over an hour to round the island, and we even managed to get a sunset shot of the bride and groom on the boat despite the large waves that built up! The following morning we were up at 6am for the long journey home, catching the first hydrofoil back to the mainland. We had Joel's parents, sisters and their partners (Joy, Ted, Keziah, Marie, Leanne, Drew and Alix) as travel companions to the airport. We all negotiated around Naples and finally boarded a bus to the airport where we parted company as we were on different flights. We can honestly say what a wonderful group of friends and family the couple have, and the amount of emails we received from them all was quite overwhelming and greatly appreciated, and we look forward to keeping in contact with you all. Mon, 29 Nov 2010 08:26:57 GMT Caroline And Ruperts Wedding At The Carnmarth Hotel Newquay http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=96 We'd met Caroline and Rupert in our studio when they were looking to book a photographer for their big day, and at another wedding which we photographed over the summer and because they are both so lovely it was like meeting up with old friends. The couple had chosen the beautiful Carnmarth Hotel in Newquay for the location for their service and reception. The day started off with a lot of laughter with both Caroline and her mum and bridesmaids and with Rupert and his two best men and ushers. The weather wasn't very kind to us and was blowing a gale which made some of the shots a little difficult, but fair play to the Bride and Groom for venturing onto the beach and headland for some photos, we were cold in suits and long coats, so goodness knows how cold Caroline was!! We would like to wish them all the very best for their future together. Heres a few photos of their special day. Sun, 18 Apr 2010 12:24:00 GMT Winner - Best Wedding Photographers In Cornwall! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=60 Following on from an earlier blog post where we reported that we were a finalist in the West Country Wedding Awards, we're delighted to say that we were crowned 'Best Wedding Photographers in Cornwall 2010'. Understandably we are absolutely delighted at winning this award, not only because we were up against some excellent photographers but, mainly due to the fact that a lot of the decision making is made upon client feedback. Our clients are always our number one priority, and their thoughts, ideas and input into their wedding photography is very important to us. It was a great night too for some of our friends within the industry, with Victoria receiving the Best Wedding Venue Cornwall award on behalf of the Carbis Bay Hotel, Anna Sawle from Wedding Flowers in Cornwall winning Best Floral Designer and Rachel Bell accepting the Best Beauty Service award on behalf of all her team at Bells Brides We would like to offer a massive congratulations to all the nominees and of course the winners, and a big thank you to all at Wedding Matters for organising the event. After the awards night we got emailed through some of the comments made by our clients during the voting stage and we have to confess to feeling quite emotional reading through them. We love receiving thank you cards and letters after the wedding date, but never before have we seen so many lovely comments side by side! If you are considering booking us for your wedding photography, please do take a look at some of the comments we received during the voting process: “Well what can I say - these two men are fabulous! With no pressure to fit to set timescales and specific formal photo's. We now have fantastic photos to remember the big day and very fond memories we would like to thank the guys, particularly as we are 300 miles from Newquay and were nervous about finding service providers for our wedding. From the initial booking and telephone call to the actual day they are faultless and keep in touch discussing what exactly you want to ensure nothing is left out. Being voted in the top 10 wedding photographers really shows they are a up there with the big names of wedding photography. If you book a photographer for your wedding, Christian Michael is the one you need to be calling with out a doubt!” “Simply put, an amazing pair of characters who were committed to providing us with exactly the type of photos we wanted, who were fantastic pre-wedding (providing me with wine!) and even better on the day. All of our guests commented on how friendly, funny and professional they were. They really captured our day and their sense of humour helped through all (my!) tears of happiness. I simply can't say enough good things about Christian and Michael, I would recommend them to anyone! Thanks guys, Tara.” “We loved having Chris and Mike as part of our day, they made everyone feel at ease and took some gorgeous, fantastic photographs, especially those down by the harbour in Charlestown. As we were coming down from London Mike came to our planning meeting at the venue and nothing was too much trouble for them to help us get the pictures we wanted. They were happy to agree to transfer the copyright to us and that our pictures would not be on their website (my particular request). They were an absolute pleasure to deal with and we were so glad we chose them. We cannot recommend them highly enough!” “Chris & Michael were absolutely fantastic, we really couldn't have asked for more. Our guests still talk about them 6 months on. They were extremely professional, friendly, personable and it felt as though we had known them for years and they were our guests. Our wedding story book album really does capture the day thanks to their outstanding work and we really cannot thank them enough.” “I couldn't recommend Chris and Mike more highly. Not only do they take the most gorgeous photos that make even the least photogenic amongst us look ok, they are also really lovely blokes.” “As the brides parents we were delighted with the service and finished photographs (even we looked good on them!) and would highly recommend Christian Michael” “I would like to vote for Christian Michael Photography as I was very impressed with their service for our special day. Many of our guests (and even other residents of the hotel) reported on how considerate and approachable they were. Unlike some photographers they were not pushy at all and allowed us to lead the day whilst gently steering the large wedding party through the photography.” “These Lads are the BEST from the moment we met them we felt like friends! have met since the wedding and have recommended friends and family all have felt the same.AMAZING, FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL, PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO AND WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE!!!!!!!!! AND AN ABSOLUT SCREAM the nerves just disappear.” “Both my wife and I were DELIGHTED by the service and support which Christian Michael gave us on our wedding day. Excellent photographers!” “christian and michael made mine and Barrys day so very special and all our guest commented on how great they were on the day, we couldn’t have hoped for more amazing photographers” Fri, 16 Apr 2010 13:53:18 GMT Lizzie And Andy A Tone Dale House http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=59 A couple of weekends ago we traveled to Wellington in Somerset for Lizzie and Andys wedding. We first spoke to Lizzie back in June via email where she confirmed that she was booking almost everything from over in Singapore! After a quick Skype session the couple booked and we looked forward to their wedding! After a beautiful church service in the village of Milverton, the couple and their guests headed back to Tone Dale House for their reception. It was the first time for us at the venue, and we can confirm that it is really beautiful and the service was excellent! We'd like to extend a massive thank you to Rob the bestman for his organisational skills and to all their friends and family for being really lovely! We wish you all the very best for your future together. Wed, 31 Mar 2010 13:47:15 GMT Jessica and Alistairs Wedding at Orchardleigh House Near Fro http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=46 The end of February saw us travel to the wonderful Orchardleigh House near Frome in Somerset, for the wedding of Jessica and Alistair. This couple were so incredibly chilled out and took everything in their stride, including their wedding preparations taking a lot less time than most! The couple chose to have their wedding ceremony in the house (there is also a beautiful waterside church within Orchardleigh's Grounds) which took place in the main hallway and in front of a roaring fire. Chris was upfront taking photos of the couple saying their vows, and he reports that his legs are still burning! Somerset seems to be a very popular place for us to photograph weddings recently with one at the end of December and valentines weekend of Halswell House and one coming up this weekend at Tone Dale House and then back to Orchardleigh at the start of April. We also have to say that Jessica had the most BEAUTIFUL dress we've ever had the pleasure of photographing. We've picked out a few of our favourite images from Jessica and Alistair's wedding (which was hard as we love them all!) for you to enjoy Thu, 18 Mar 2010 16:12:16 GMT Alix and Stephens Wedding at Halswell House in Somerset http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=45 First off apologies for not updating the Blog sooner. We've been stacked out busy getting ready for 2010's Wedding Season. Its looking like our busiest year to date, and are currently covering Weddings from Lands End to Bath to Chelmsford! Anyway back to the most romantic weekend of the year - Valentines! The 13th of February saw us travel up to the beautiful Halswell House in Somerset, for the second time in two months. This time we were up there for Alix and Stephens Wedding. We'd not met the couple until the morning of the wedding, and can honestly say we couldn't have hoped to meet a nicer couple, and even better they had a wonderful bunch of friends and family. The couple got ready, were married and had their reception all in Halswell, a great recipe for a relaxed affair ,where the guests can kick back and relax (drink!) and enjoy the day without having to worry about driving or traveling. As ever the House had everything organised perfectly, and a fabulous Toast Master helped the day run even smoother. Alix and her bridesmaids were pampered and beautified by Fay Venner who was a pleasure to work with. After a very emotional service we had around an hour to get some group shots and beautiful shots of the Bride and Groom, even venturing up many flights of stairs to the roof of the house, where there are the most spectacular views and even a hot tub!! A massive thank you to Alix and Stephen for being such lovely people and making us feel really welcome, here are a few of our favourite images from the day. Wed, 17 Mar 2010 10:29:06 GMT Louise and Vince's Wedding at Halswell House in Somerset http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=56 Whilst most people were having a chilled out time between Christmas and New Year, we were up at Halswell House in Somerset to photograph Louise and Vince's wedding. We couple booked almost a year ago, and we met with them in August whilst Vince was in Cornwall competitive fishing. It was obvious that the couple knew what they wanted, but were also incredibly easy going, and we knew that their wedding day was going to be one to enjoy. After staying locally overnight we were up bright and early for an all you can eat breakfast, breaking our healthy eating pledge! Mike headed off to Louise's parents house where she was getting ready and Chris went off to a local pub to meet with Vince where he, and his groomsmen were having breakfast. We both had a really nice morning with the couple and Louise did her best to consume a bottle of Champagne! After her emotional arrival at the Church, the service was over in a flash and a memorable moment for us was when Louise turned around after the vows had been said with a look of amazement at the amount of guests in the church! We all then headed off to the nearby stunning Halswell House for the couples reception. We spent the afternoon dodging showers in between photographing the couple and a few group shots. Louise and Vince were kind enough to send us a text the very next day saying: "Just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and Mike. You were both amazing and everyone commented about you and how well you fitted into the day with all of our friends and family! So glad we chose you to photograph our wedding. We cannot wait to see the pics!! We'd like to say a massive thank you to the couple and their friends and family for making us feel so welcome and wish them all the very best for their future together. Fri, 15 Jan 2010 13:31:44 GMT Sophie and Scott's Wedding at St Mellion International http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=55 Whilst most of the Country on Boxing day were nursing hangovers and Christmas day excess, we were up bright and early to photograph Sophie and Scotts wedding. Boxing day is an unusual choice of wedding date, and not one we had ever done before but due to family business and military commitments Boxing day it was for this couple! As always we split up in the morning to photograph both the Bride and Grooms preparation, but this time carrying a secret that neither Sophie or Scott knew. Sophie's parents had arranged an amazing Cinderella style horse drawn carriage for Sophies journey to the church, and as transport for the newly weds back to the reception. Despite a really heavy shower as Scott arrived at the Church, the weather passed so most of the guests arrived in sun, and more importantly it was dry for Sophie's arrival. We had the pleasure of working with Andy from Memories on Film (again!) at this wedding, which is always great as we get on very well. After a really lovely service surrounded by Christmas trees and decorations we headed back to the contemporary St Mellion International Resort for the reception. As always we aim to take the couple for away for a short while to get those special photographs of them, however cue the second heavy down pour of rain! The shower passed but left the ground very wet underfoot, not good for a stunning wedding dress! We opted to take photograph on one of the balconies at the Resort and got some photos of the sun just dipping behind the tree line. The second surprise of the day was revealed when Sophie had a dance with her father to the secretly prepared video backdrop of old movie clips of them both when she was a child. Very emotional! Andy from Memories on Film has been working hard after the wedding and has posted a 'Coming Soon' teaser of Sophie and Scott's day, and we'd recommend anyone thinking of hiring a wedding videographer to check it out. Working on Boxing Day wouldn't be on the top of many peoples list of things to do, but the Couple, their friends and family made it such a special day we were delighted to be working! We wish them all the very best for their future together. Mon, 11 Jan 2010 15:45:43 GMT Sarah and Charlies Wedding at Wadebridge in Cornwall http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=44 We love winter weddings despite the weather risks and limited hours of day light, and Sarah and Charlie's wedding was no different! As you can see it rained on the way into Church, it also rained on the way out but after getting back to the Marquee courtesy of our good friend, Darren at Cornwall VW Wedding Hire (who washed and cleaned the Van 3 times that day!) the rain stopped for 5 minutes. Just enough time for us to get some shots of the Bride and Groom. Sarah looked amazing in a fabulous Ian Stuart Wedding Dress, which stayed remarkably clean despite the wet weather! Charlie had a total of seven groomsmen who were a great group of guys, and very funny. For the couples evening entertainment they had an amazing band that traveled down from London to play. Most of them were either current or retired session musicians who were quite clearly at the top of their game. We also sat down to eat with them, and what a great bunch of guys they were! The shot of the couple having their first dance is one of our favourite. Its Mikes shot, however he took that image at exactly the same time as Chris did (just off to the left of the couple) so combined the flash lighting from both cameras. Sarah and Charlie's wedding was really lovely and the couple were an absolute pleasure to photograph, and we wish them all the very best for their future together. Fri, 08 Jan 2010 10:43:34 GMT Charlotte and Noahs Wedding at Clearwell Castle http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=43 We traveled up to Clearwell Castle in the Forrest of Dean near the Welsh Border after a long day in the studio. We had a couple of rooms booked in the Wyndham Arms Hotel and upon arriving we discovered that the hotel had a wonderful oldie world pub/restaurant. After a delicious meal and a couple glasses of wine we retired to our rooms, looking forward to the wedding the next day. Our couple, Charlotte and Noah contacted us at the start of November to explain that they had booked Clearwell Castle as a last minute wedding and were organising everything within 5 weeks. It is an incredible testament to them both that they organised such a beautiful wedding in such a short space of time. As always we send a photographer to both the Bride and the Grooms preparations, and we can both honestly say we had a really lovely morning with them, and felt like we had know them for ages, despite the fact we had only chatted on the phone a few times prior to their wedding day! Charlotte and Noah had booked Andy from Memories on Film, who we recommend whole heartedly as their videographer, and had asked him to shoot some footage in Super 8 as well as the standard format. Andy's always a pleasure to work with and he even shot a bit of footage with our new Canon stills camera that also does full HD video, showing us what the camera can do. Having tried a little since, I can safely say its best left to the experts as I know my effort will be nowhere near as good as his work! After a really emotional, moving service we were pushed for time given the fact it gets dark early at this time of year so after the confetti and a few group shots we took a little walk with the Bride and Groom and got some gorgeous images as the light faded away. We stayed with the wedding party through the wedding breakfast and into the evenings entertainment, getting some great shots of their first dance. We also stayed to watch and photograph some amazing fireworks, even through the rain came along and tried to damper our spirits! After such a long day, a 5 hour drive home was just too much so we stayed a second night at our hotel. It was so clear to everyone who was at their wedding that Charlotte and Noah are really in love with each other and they are the epitome of the perfect couple. We really wish you all the very best for your future together and we'll certainly remember you as one of our favourite couples. On a slightly different note, Charlotte and Noah set up their own Wedding Website to give all their guests plenty of information on the local area plus details on their special day, which we think is a great idea, so we recommend if your getting married to get one done asap! Wed, 16 Dec 2009 12:39:21 GMT Cotswolds Wedding in the rain! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=42 A wedding in Moreton-in-Marsh lived up to its Marshy name when it poured with rain! We first met with Jessica's mum and sister at a wedding fayre in Cornwall back in February, and i'm pleased to say that as soon as Jessica saw our work she made an appointment to travel down to Cornwall to see us and book! We spoke with Jess a few times between then and the wedding but as always they come around really fast! Jessica and Ian's wedding was to be held in the beautiful town of Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds, which is a 500 mile round trip for us, so we booked ourselves into a hotel the night before After possibly the best breakfast we've ever had at our hotel, Redesdale Arms, we set off to the hotels where the bride and groom were staying for their morning preparations. Unfortunately it started to rain, and never really showed any sign of stopping! Despite the fact it didn't stop raining pretty much all day, we got out in the hotels grounds with the bride and groom for some really beautiful shots. After the first dance we set the Sat Nav for the studio and headed home in the torrential rain, and some really quite exciting thunder and lightning! A big thank you to Jess and Ian, as well as all the friends and family. I know Mike had a lovely time with Jess and the girls in the morning, and i've not laughed so much for a long time with Ian and his groomsmen. We'll let you know as soon as the photos are finished, but in the meanwhile have a look at these teasers..... Fri, 20 Nov 2009 07:52:26 GMT Tammy and Brad's Wedding at Mawnan Smith http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=54 Tammy and Brad got in contact just over a year ago to see if we were available for their wedding in Falmouth, the good news is we were! We met with the couple a few months ago and instantley struck up a really report. Brad is a speech coach, so knows the wedding industry well and it was clear to us that this would be a very well organised day. Its amazing how those months fly by, and in no time at all the wedding day was upon us, however we did have a slight drama; Mike had been really poorly for a couple of days, and was hoping to be well in time for the wedding, but unfortunately this wasn't the case. We are always prepared for this situation as you never know when this could happen, and have a couple of excellent photographers on stand by for just such an occasion. Jonny stepped in at the last minute, and did a wonderful job of filling Mikes shoes. This wedding did have a little twist in the fact that Tammys father, not only gave her away, but also conducted the service. It did make us laugh when he asked himself 'Who gives this woman to this man?' To which he replied 'I do!' The Bride and Groom, Ushers, Best Man and Bridesmaids all joined us on the nearby beach for some photos and the boys were even brave enough to roll up their trousers and get in the sea, apparently it wasn't that cold, but i'm not convinced! Obviously being a speech coach, we did have high expectations for Brads speech, and it didn't disappoint, with humor, emotion, sadness, happiness and a lot of love. We can't say thank you enough to both Tammy and Brad, but also to their fantastic families and friends for making us feel so welcome, and i'm sure that we will be keeping in touch. Also thank you so much for the bottles of wine you dropped off at the studio! Wed, 11 Nov 2009 05:30:28 GMT Amy and Eddie at Restormal Castle and Bodmin Jail http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=41 This was a little different for us as this wasn't technically a wedding! Amy and Eddie were married in the USA almost a year to the day of their blessing in the UK. Amy was brought up in Cornwall, and despite now living in the USA and needing to be married over there, she still wanted to have a traditional English wedding, and who can blame her! Eddie is a serviceman in the Navy, and we have to say the day was organised with Military precision! Having said this, it was also really relaxed, and everyone there was keen to have a great day. The couple had their blessing in the tiny, but beautiful village of Lanivet. After this, the Bride and Groom, Bridesmaids and Ushers all headed off to Restormal Castle with us for some shots, which really fitted with the highland kilt theme. Not only did we do some shots here, we also did some shots in Bodmin Jail, just below where the couple had their reception. It was quite an odd experience being in a disused abandoned jail, where only a few hundred years ago, criminals were hanged! It was definitely worth it as the shots look amazing, even if we do say so ourselves! We want to say a massive thank you to not only the couple, but all their friends and family. Its always really lovely for us to meet some wonderful people at weddings, but its even nicer when they are from all corners of the world! Tue, 10 Nov 2009 13:51:27 GMT Nikki and Gareth at Nansloe Manor http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=40 First off sorry to all of you avid Blog readers for not updating this recently, we've both taken a bit of time off as a reward for our busiest summer season so far. Bookings for next year are coming in really quickly with nearly half of our peak season Saturdays already booked, so if your getting married in 2010 or 2011 get in contact soon or you may just miss out! Anyway, back to Nikki and Gareth. Nikki owns and runs SilverWinds, a specialist woodwind shop just opposite our studio in Foundry Farm. We've had the pleasure of photographing Nikkis first born child, and naturally she asked if we were available to photograph her wedding, which luckily we were! Obviously Nikki having her shop so close, we see her now husband Gareth a lot, and quite frequently discuss cars and motorbikes! Their wedding was held at the beautiful Ludgvan Church and then off to the recently refurbished Nasloe Manor on the outskirts of Helston. We took a little detour with the Bride and Groom on route to Nansloe, down to Gunwalloe Beach, one of our favourite photography spots near to the Lizard. The sky was just perfect and Gareth did the honorable thing and gave Nikki a lift over the pebbles so she didn't dirty her dress! Thank you to both Nikki and Gareth for not only choosing us to photograph their day, but for making us a part of it. Thanks guys!! Here are a few of our favourite images from their day. Tue, 10 Nov 2009 13:22:36 GMT Dee and Gerard's Wedding http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=53 The last of eight weddings in two weeks for us ended in style! We were up early for Dee and Gerard's Wedding which was held at Trereife Park nr Penzance. Dee was really relaxed in the morning and taking her photo was a pleasure. She got ready in one of the large rooms at Trerefie, in fact just above the room where the service was held. Dee's hairdresser, the really lovely Emma from Number 8 was not only really helpful to me allowing me to get some wonderful shots, but she was incredibly talented and styled Dee's hair perfectly. It was also great to be joined by Andrew from Memories on Film a fantastic videographer who we have worked with on several occasions, and who always does a great job. If your looking for a videographer you should definitely check out his work, and we can't give him a high enough recommendation, despite the fact he thinks photographers have an easier job than videographers!! The service was really beautiful and moving, and it was clear that Gerard was delighted to have tied the knot! Dee and Gerard spoilt their guests (and the hard working video/photo crew!) to a delicious seafood bbq including fresh lobster. The couple broke from tradition and had a first Song instead of a first dance, as the couple met whilst playing together in a band. The couple have recently moved back to Cornwall and we wish them all the very best for their lives together. Thu, 08 Oct 2009 17:30:34 GMT Lynsey and Jon's Wedding http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=52 This was a fun, but different day for us as both Lynsey and Jon are very good friends of ours, so we were guests as well as photographers! They both got ready in St Ives, Lynsey at her parents house and Jon with his bestman and Ushers at their house. The wedding transport was provided by Darren, who's also a great friend of us all, and runs the company Cornwall VW Wedding Hire. As you can see from the photos the Camper looked amazing, as always! After the Church service in St Ives, we went down to Carbis Bay Beach to get some photos as the weather was perfect! The reception was held at Tregenna Castle in St Ives, and after taking shots of the cutting of the cake and the first dance it was time to put our cameras away and join in the celebrations with the new Mr and Mrs Harvey! Thu, 08 Oct 2009 09:56:18 GMT Carly and Barry's Wedding http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=51 Bank Holiday Monday saw us photograph our third wedding in a row, and what a way to finish August! We hadn't met Carly and Barry until their wedding day, and we can honestly say what a wonderful couple they are. The couple held their wedding reception at Langdon Court which is an amazing wedding venue that we visited for the first time, and we look forward to the next wedding we photograph there. Barry was chauffeured from the Court to the Church at nearby Wembury in a beautiful Aston Martin DB9 which Carly had ordered as a surprise! (What a great Wife!) Upon arriving at the Church, Barry realised that he had forgotten the order of services and the word was sent for an Usher to rush back to the Court to collect them. The Order of services arrived just in time, and the Bridesmaids and Flowergirls turned up just a few minutes later. Carly followed shortly wearing one of the most beautifully detailed dresses, and the longest, stunning veil we had seen all year! After a short but moving service, some small group shots, and confetti throwing the guests departed back to Langdon Court, whilst we took Carly and Barry down to the beach. Despite having really harsh light behind the couple, we got some great shots with a really moody sky. There was a little surprise in store when during the speeches Barry revealed that he and Carly we're expecting their first child! After the meal we took the couple up into the gardens and got some beautiful photographs as the light was just beautifully soft. Not only are the gardens really photogenic, but there a few old stone sheds which provide a really colourful, bright background. We wish Carly & Barry all the very best on the birth of their first child. Wed, 07 Oct 2009 13:24:37 GMT Annette and Steve's Wedding http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=50 Annette and Steve were married at Lakeview Manor just outside Dunkeswell in Devon. This was the first time photographing at this venue for us, and i'm pleased to say that we would happily go back again as its beautiful! Both the Bride and Groom got ready at the Lakeview Manor (obviously in separate rooms!) held the service here and their reception. We always enjoy one venue wedding days as it means there's no travel involved and all the guests can totally relax and have a good drink. The service was held in the main function room in the Manor, and with the Bride and Groom choosing chair covers and ribbons which matched the Bridesmaids dresses perfectly, it look amazing. After the short service Annette and Steve and all their guests headed outside for a glass of Champagne or Pimms. The weather had been looking iffy all day, but we managed to get the group shots done, and the special shots of the Bride and Groom in the wonderful grounds. Annette and Steve were kind enough to seat us with their guests, and we enjoyed a delicious meal with them, it also meant that we were ready and waiting to photograph the particularly funny speeches! We also stayed on to photograph the first dance, and we were helpfully assisted by the DJ from Your Perfect Night by him shining plenty of light onto the dance floor. Tue, 06 Oct 2009 10:38:36 GMT Kim and James Wedding http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=38 Kim and James's Wedding was the first of three in a row for us to photograph over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, and what a great way to get started! Kim got ready at Tregenna Castle in St Ives, where the couple also held their receptions. The Castle is one we photograph at many times as its very close to our studio. As you can see from the photos it has a very imposing frontage, and has a lot of grounds, with some gorgeous spots for photography. Transport for the Bride and Groom was provided by the Guys at Arrival Cars with two beautiful Rolls Royce's, and as always they were very accommodating to two demanding photographers! Thanks again Andy!. We popped down to Carbis Bay beach to get some special photos of the Bride and Groom. This beach is gorgeous, with bags of soft light, and crystal clear waters, and is also very easily accessible for Brides in high heels! Kim, James and all their families and friends are just lovely people, and we felt very welcome and was a great start to a busy weekend. We look forward to seeing you all again soon! Tue, 29 Sep 2009 11:08:07 GMT Tara and James's Wedding in Falmouth. http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=49 Tara and James's Wedding was our first of eight weddings in 14 days at the end of August, and what a way to start this busy time! This couple were just so relaxed, quite clearly in love, and were intent on having a great day, in other words, the perfect ingredients for a perfect wedding! Not only were Tara and James the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, but their group of friends and family were just lovely. We even had an impromptu assistant in Laura who's pretty handy with a camera! Tara and James chose Pendennis Castle for their wedding venue, which is one of our favourite venues, despite being very difficult to photograph inside as its so dark. We love how imposing the castle is, and as you can see from the photo on the right, it does make an amazing backdrop! After the service, the couple had arrange for two beautiful vintage coaches to take their guests back to the St Michaels Hotel and Spa for their reception. I think its fairly safe to say that Tara is 'emotional' and welled up a few times during the service, entrance of the Bride and Groom, the speeches, the first dance etc etc!! James also mispronounced a word, which had rude connotations, which made us all laugh, and left him red faced! After the meal, we took the Bride, Groom, Bridesmaids and Ushers across the road to the beach for some more photos where the light was just gorgeous, and we got some lovely shots. This was one wedding we really didn't want to leave, and with their guests asking us to stay, drink and party it took all our willpower to leave as we knew what a busy couple of weeks we had coming up. All in all a fabulous day, and we hope to see you and your guests again soon! Tue, 22 Sep 2009 13:21:11 GMT Jo and Will St Erth and The Porthminster Hotel http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=37 Jo and Wills wedding and another day of sun! Which as most of you know is somewhat of a miracle for Cornwall! Jo and Will came to see around 9 months ago to chat about their wedding photography needs, and we instantly struck up a really good rapport, in fact they were in the studio for almost 2 hours, talking life, lighthouses and building your own home, which the two of them were doing. The couple even insisted that their new house would be ready for Jo to get ready in on her wedding morning. Fast forward 9 months and Jo and Will popped into the studio for a last minute chat about timings and locations and revealed that they had finished enough of the house for Jo to get ready in! Seriously good going guys, building a house and organising a wedding, we take our hats off to you! The morning of the wedding came and it was glorious weather, spirits were high in both house's and despite Jo being a typical Bride and making Will wait at the alter for just long enough to make him sweat the day went amazingly! A big thank you to the Vicar who was incredibly helpful to us in allowing us to get shots that others would not. Here are a few of our favourite images from their day. Wed, 26 Aug 2009 10:17:05 GMT Jane and Eddie at Trevarno Gardens http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=36 The 1st of August saw us do a local wedding. Jane and Eddie got ready in separate apartments in beautiful St Ives. The weather was stunning (which is a surprise mid English summer!) but not too hot. Jane had her done by the lovely ladies at Beachcombers and finished her make up and got dressed back at the apartment, whilst Eddie met all his guest in the Three Ferrets Pub before boarding a Vintage Coach from King Harry Coaches and set off for Trevarno. Jane arrived a short time later in one of the beautiful cars from Something Blue Cars (who we've had the pleasure of working with many times this year). After a short but lovely ceremony the couple got showered with confetti and after a couple glasses of wine went off with us to get their special shots. Trevarno has got literally hundreds of beautiful areas for photography, but the best has to be the Boat House. Chris walked around the Lake to take photos of the couple in there and in the process was covered in water from a Black Neck Swan protecting his territory! The Swan then turned his attention to the couple and Mike! (see photo) We later learned that his mate was killed recently by a Fox and he's been lonely ever since. Anyway enough of our ramblings, keep your eyes open for more Blog updates coming soon! We'd like to extend out thanks to all the staff at Trevarno for accommodating us so well, and for having such beautiful location! Wed, 19 Aug 2009 06:42:03 GMT Bovey Castle, and finally some sunshine! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=35 We were up at 6am last Saturday to travel to Bovey Castle on the edge of Dartmoor National Park for the marriage of Annabel and Alex. We had only ever had email contact with them both as they were living in Holland, and even though we had never spoken in person or on the phone we could tell from the couples laid back attitude this was going to be a great wedding! We always love going to new locations, and this was our first time photographing at Bovey Castle. We were met by Jade the wedding coordinator, who is absolutely fantastic. She gave us the guided tour of the Castle and its grounds and made sure that we knew exactly where we were going and at what time. Highlights of the day for us, were exploring the many photo opportunities with the couple, of which a couple can be seen in the photos, a Magician entertaining the wedding party before the wedding breakfast, and the 13th hole golf competition where all the wedding party had three balls to (hopefully) hit over a hill a lake and onto the green. The closest to the hole won a bottle of Champagne. Bovey Castle ranks as one of our favourite locations in the South West to photograph, thanks not only to the visual impact of the Castle and the grounds but the wonderful staff. Thanks again to both Annabel and Alex, their friends and families for making us feel so welcome, and we wish you all the very best in the future. Wed, 29 Jul 2009 16:49:46 GMT Natasha and Grant at the Fort. http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=34 This wedding was only booked about 9 months ago and we had never met the couple until the big day, where they revealed that they had planned all their wedding in this time. All credit to them it was a great day! Grant was a super relaxed groom, and Natasha was a pleasure to photograph despite not being too keen to have many taken! Weddings at Polhawn Fort are always a challenge as the light is very low in most of the rooms, and its difficult to find a big space for group shots should it rain, which thankfully it didn't!! The day was really relaxed and informal from Champagne on the lawn to a Hog Roast and possibly the biggest Paella we'd ever seen this side of Madrid! Usually for weddings at Polhawn we like to venture down to the private beach for photos but this time the tide was right in and this wasn't possible, but luckily there are plenty of places to take gorgeous photos around the Fort. The happy couple chose a local Ska band, Rudi's Message to play out the night and i'm sure Grant got to enjoy his wedding Cigar! Natasha and Grant are such lovely people and have a great group of friends, despite some being Northerners (its ok guys we're joking!!) and we wish them all the very best for the future. Tue, 28 Jul 2009 12:29:57 GMT Saturday at Mawgan Church http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=33 After traveling back from Minehead through wind and rain on Friday night we were up early on Saturday to photograph Nicola and Matts wedding. The couple came into our studio last year to have a chat and look through some albums, and we were amazed at their laid back attitude to their wedding. As the months progressed on we spoke on the phone and once more in the studio, and they still kept that relaxed approach. So came the wedding day, and of course in the month on July in the England, RAIN! I (Chris) need to say a big thank you to Matt's mum for cooking me such a lovely breakfast as soon as I arrived to take photos of the Grooms preparation, I know Mike was treated equally as well at Nicola's house. Their Ceremony was in a beautiful Church in the village of Mawgan. Straight after this we all traveled off to a nearby marquee. Luckily the weather was kind to us and we managed to get the group shots needed, and shortly afterwards we went down to Gunwalloe Beach with the Bride and Groom to get some special photos of them. We even managed to persuade Nicola and Matt to venture into a Corn Field to get some more beautiful pics. A massive thank you to you both, and all of your friends and families for making us feel so welcome, we'll be in touch soon guys!! Wed, 22 Jul 2009 11:16:48 GMT Friday Wedding at Dunster Castle in the rain http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=32 Friday saw us travel to Dunster Castle near Minehead for Selina and Iains Wedding. Iain contacted us well over a year ago to see if we were available to photograph his marriage to Selina. Iain admitted during the conversation that he was also a wedding photographer, so we felt very honored that he liked our work and were delighted when he chose to book us. With the day still a long way off we chatted about the venue and all its potential photography hot spots and even talked about the latest camera releases from Canon! We traveled up to Minehead on the Thursday afternoon as we would never risk travel of that distance on the morning of a wedding, and had a lovely stay in a B & B. I have to say that Minehead was a lot nicer than expected, however there were no wild Stag/Hen Parties or Adult weekends happening at Butlins when we were there! Friday morning soon came and we set off the the beautiful town of Dunster and its famous Castle. Both of us went to the separate bride and groom preparation locations and then converged on the hall to photograph the ceremony. Selina arrived in a beautiful Horse and Carriage from Classic Dreams and even though it was raining hard it didn't dampen anyones spirits! After all the photographs at Dunster their reception was held at Tithe Barn where the couple kindly seated us with their guests and we photographed their very funny speeches, and up until the end of their first dance, which, all credit to you both was really very good! Tue, 21 Jul 2009 10:20:14 GMT Saturday and Sunny St Mawes http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=31 Another gloriously sunny day, and this time we're down at St Mawes Castle for Alexis and Chris' wedding. We'd spoken to the couple several times on the phone and met earlier in the year, and even though they were booking from out of the County, the organisation was spot on, thanks mainly to Chris' computer generated time sheets! This was a relatively small wedding, just 35 guests, but by keeping to this number it kept a great atmosphere and in actual fact filled the dinning room downstairs in the Castle. On the subject of dinning, thanks once again to Lucy and Sarah at The Round Kitchen for producing such wonderful food for the wedding party and keeping us fed and watered. We truly do recommend them for any function you may have. Alexis and Chris also wanted us to photograph the Blessing of the Rings at the beautiful St Just in roseland church on the Sunday which we were more than happy to do. This wonderful church is located in Subtropical gardens and on the waters edge and is one the most photogenic church's we've even seen. Here's a few of our favourite images from the weekend Ciao for now! Tue, 30 Jun 2009 15:45:00 GMT Friday Wedding and what a wonderful dress! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=30 On Friday we were down towards the Lizard for Colin and Carols wedding, and we were all blessed with beautiful weather. The couple were soo relaxed about their wedding, but had been up until late most evenings prior to the big day dressing their marquee which looked stunning. Carol had on the most amazing wedding dress we had seen in a long time, from Ian Stuart (UK Bridal Designer of the Year 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and Outstanding Contributor to the Industry 2008 in case you didn't know!!) and was one of two in the world. Even so Carol was more than happy to have photos taken on the beach and in a field of long grass. The couple were married at the beautiful Gunwalloe Church, and after the service enjoyed Pimms on the beach. The couple, friends and family then returned to their home and marquee before enjoying some amazing food from The Round Kitchen who were kind enough to make sure we had some nibbles too! Thank Lucy and Sarah! Tue, 30 Jun 2009 15:13:05 GMT Wedding in Cornwall - Reception in Devon! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=29 Saturday the 20th saw us photograph Nicola and Adam's wedding, which was in Laneast (Cornwall) and then off to the beautiful Roadford Lake (Devon). The couple came to see us last year to talk about their wedding, and we were delighted when they called us shortly after our meeting to say they would love to book us to photograph their special day. Thanks to both Nicola and Adam and their families for making us feel very welcome, and for having faith in us to get some great images amongst some long grass. Here are a few of our favourite images from the day. Wed, 24 Jun 2009 14:39:12 GMT Josie and Will at Padstow http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=28 What a great wedding! Those we the words we said to each other on the way home from Josie and Will's wedding. They had their wedding day spot on, just enough organisation, but not too much! We love marquee weddings anyway, but this was a great one! Like many of the couples we photograph, we had not met them until the wedding day, but had spoken at length on the phone. Josie and Will and their friends and families made us feel really welcome and it was a pleasure to be part of their special day. One last comment... 'Yes Will your right, every good party needs fire!' Sat, 13 Jun 2009 14:44:31 GMT Bank Holiday Wedding and Camels?! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=27 First off sorry its been a little while since the last Blog post, its been busy, busy now wedding season is well underway! We photographed Rachel and Dominic's Wedding over the bank holiday weekend at Roucik Farm/Cornish Camels. It was the first wedding to be held at the farm, and i'm sure there will be plenty more to come, as the whole area is very peaceful (except for the odd Peacock here and there) and amazingly beautiful. We took the couple down to gorgeous Cadgwith Cove for their special photographs which is only a few miles away. We also took a few photos of the Camels, and you can see they are very friendly! Fri, 05 Jun 2009 08:54:10 GMT Summer has arrived at Carbis Bay! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=26 The weather was very kind to us, our fabulous couple, Vicky and David and all their family and friends yesterday for their wedding at The Carbis Bay Hotel. As you can see from one of the photographs from the day it was beautiful! A big thank you to the happy couple and all their guests for making us feel so welcome and for making us laugh. Also a big thank you to Victoria and all the staff at the Carbis Bay Hotel for looking after us so well again, we love you guys! Fri, 22 May 2009 12:50:17 GMT Newquay Wedding, Wind, Rain and Sun! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=25 Its Monday morning and we've just downloaded our images from Rachel and Richards wedding this weekend. We were all very lucky with the weather, despite three or four really heavy downpours throughout the day, we got some great shots outside the church, on Little Fistral and Towan Point (see photo). Well done to the couple, the four Bridesmaids and the four, yes four Best Men for not looking cold, despite the gale force wind! Congratulations to you both again on your beautiful wedding and we'll be in contact soon when we've finished all your photos. Mon, 18 May 2009 06:26:13 GMT Weddings, weddings weddings! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=24 Well so far May has been a busy time for us photographing weddings from St Ives up to Bournemouth. A big thank you to all of the Brides and Grooms and their friends and families for making us feel so welcome. We had a great time at Parley Manor Nr Bournemouth for Caroline and Steve's wedding. Steve was best-man for his brothers wedding we photographed in St Ives last year, so was great to see both Rob and Claire and their families again. Highlights for the day had to be Steve, Best-man and Usher on a trampoline in the garden just before leaving, having a laugh with all the guys and girls at A'Courts Hair and Beauty, Rob's drunkenness, and the excellent hog roast we were served by the amazing Merlins Catering team at Parley Manor. Thanks to: A'Courts Hair and Beauty Parley Manor Merlins Catering Wed, 13 May 2009 06:17:54 GMT Rainy Pendennis! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=23 We had a great wedding 11th of April. Amy and Matt were a lovely couple who, luckily for us, were quite focused on photography! The weather wasn't exactly kind to them, and rained whilst we were taking pictures on the beach, and in a brave move, Amy and Matt asked all of their guests to come outside to greet them and to have the group shots done. All we'll say is good call! The weather held off for just long enough to get the group shots they wanted, and got some beautiful shots of the happy couple before the rain came in again. Here are some of our favourite bad weather images from the day. Mon, 27 Apr 2009 15:21:02 GMT Easter Weekend Wedding Madness! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=22 Well the Easter weekend is now behind us and we're now sat in the studio reviewing our images from the weekend (very happy we are with them too!) The Wedding of Emma and Jeremy at the Old Quay House in Fowey Cornwall was certainly one we will remember for a long time! As always Martin and his staff at the Old Quay House were amazing, keeping us fed and watered throughout the day and making the day run smoothly, unlike the boat trip we took with the couple and their close family! To be fair the river wasn't too choppy though the little bridesmaid did get a bit chilly! Not only did we have this boat trip, we took the couple into a boatyard and got some fantastic images of them amongst broken up boats (sounds bad, but trust us they look great!) Thanks to Emma and Jeremy and all their families for making us feel so welcome. The Wedding of Carolyn & Damon at Polhawn Fort Nr Torpoint. Its the first time we had experienced, sun, wind, rain, and snow in one day! Looking at the photos, we can see we were taking pictures on the beach in the sun with blue skies and less than 30 mins later the couple were walking into church in a snow storm! Amazing! New Year...New Website! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=17 Well its 2009 and our new website is launched!! We need to say a massive thank you to Gareth for being patient and working very hard to give us what we wanted and to Ed for his usual excellent work behind the scenes. We had a busy Xmas photographing Kim and Simon's wedding. What made this day so nice was both of us know Simon and he was kind enough to invite us to the evening party so we took the chance to put down the cameras and have a pre Christmas drink. We did have to pick up our cameras again though when Simon performed a fantastic dance routine with some members of Flava who rose to fame on ITV's Britain's Got Talent. We also had a great wedding day on the 27th of Dec (a very popular date to be married) with Hannah and John. Its the first cake we've seen cut by a Navy Sword! So on to 2009. The season is getting really booked up, and we're pleased and honored to say that we are still getting many enquires daily for 2009 and for 2010. Thanks to all who have enquired and booked and we very much look forward to working with you throughout 2009! Wed, 28 Jan 2009 06:56:43 GMT Hair Shoot! http://www.christianmichael.co.uk/nblog.php?id=15 Something a little out of the ordinary for us. We were contacted by Tswei Hunter Walsh (hair stylist's) to provide them with an advertising image for use on bus shelters in their new advertising campaign. The shoot and edit took a total of 6 hours and went from picture taking to being displayed on the bus shelters in just 3 days! It's a great feeling seeing our work across Cornwall and the southwest. So.....we were asked by Brides in Cornwall Magazine to shoot the cover and a feature for the Winter 2008 edition which we accepted with pleasure! It was set to be a 50's theme at Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway in Bodmin, and when we turned up on a cold damp morning to do the shoot we had no idea how great the results would be! I have had a small word with myself and it should be done a little more regularly now!. What's been happening then? well the weddings have been coming in fast and furious which is great news. We have been busy most Saturdays already this year and have to say we are still enjoying them and meeting loads of great people makes it all the more worth while. Thanks to Justin and Liz who had a great day on the 22nd of March despite it blowing a hooley! (the guy on the top of the marquee was either mad or just very brave). We have photographed some cold days but that was freeeeeeezing and Liz is ARD AS NAILS! Congratulations to Simon and Natalie on the birth of their daughter Freya. Thanks to Freya for the small accident in the studio! we will remind you of it when you are older. Back at mission control Mike is sorting bookings and magazine work! It's nuts busy (as we knew it would be!) and we may have lost a few pounds in weight (well I have, not sure about Chris) but we are still going strong.
